Bring a new, original packaged toy without gift wrapping to the December club meeting and place it on the table provided. We generally ask that you keep the cost of the gift in the $10 to $20 range, although what you spend is entirely up to you. Not to be repetitive, but it's really important that there is no gift wrapping, personal cards or greetings on the the gifts themselves. Members of the Marine Corps will be there to collect them the night of the meeting. One other thing you may consider when purchasing a gift is to think of older children who may benefit from your generosity. For those new to the club, we will also have our traditional Yuletide Pizza and Wings Festival which is open at no cost for all club members current with their membership dues. If you so wish to participate, you can bring holiday cookies and treats to share for dessert. Lastly, we are going to have our Secret Santa Gift Exchange again this year, with a twist! The secret gift you select MUST be built and completed by this year's BuffCon in April. What you do is bring in a NEW, UN-BUILT, UNSTARTED, COMPLETE (all parts, decals and instructions) kit and place it in a brown paper bag that is sealed with either tape or staples. Bring it to the club meeting in December and those who participate will chose their gift by lottery. Members of the E-Board will unseal the gift you choose, to document (secretly) that it meets the requirements stated above. Bring the finished kit to BuffCon where it will be placed on the club table. We will have a separate judging and award for the best overall Secret Santa model kit at the show. So, in other words, if you elect to participate, you will have to finish it, even though it may not be your usual modeling subject. We hope this will be a fun and challenging contest and may help modelers to do something out of their comfort zone. On behalf of the entire E-Board, I'd like to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope to see all of you at the meeting on Monday. John R. Zaranek

IT'S TIME TO RENEW OUR NATIONAL CHARTER AGAIN Every year around this time, every IPMS chapter has to renew its charter with the national organization. This ensures that, among other things, we are eligible for the free insurance coverage that we need for our regular meetings and for special events like BuffCon. Part of the renewal process is verifying that we meet the minimum number of current IPMS national members in our chapter. To help us with this, and to keep our records up to date, if you are a current IPMS national member, please contact Dick Schulenberg with your national membership number and the expiration date shown on your membership card. Dick will be at Monday's meeting, or you can call him at 716-934-2161 or email him at schulenberg.richard@yahoo.com. Please do this as soon as possible so we can finish up the chartering process. Thanks! |
