Greetings, members!

I'd like to personally thank all of you who so graciously donated to the US Marine Corps "Toys For Tots" campaign at last month's meeting. Ever since I've been a member I am humbled and pleased of the generosity that is demonstrated by this club year after year. I am sure that a lot of children had a much happier Christmas last year because of you. Thank you very much!

I am also passing on get well wishes to our Chief Judge, Tom Brown, Sr. who had a workplace accident and is recovering nicely.

Our "Secret Santa" build contest is up and running. The anonymous gift swap has about 20 participants. Tom Brown, Sr. will provide a list of who is doing which model kit when he's feeling better and I'll be sure to post it at the next newsletter. Remember that if you agreed to the swap, you will have to have it completely finished and entered onto our club table at BuffCon in April. There will be a special award for the best model. The kit I selected is the Tamiya M3 "Grant" as used by the British Army in North Africa in World War II. This is not my "normal" subject theme and I got to building it straightaway. In fact, it's assembled, painted and decaled. Unfortunately, I am not sure if I like it, so I may end up doing it over again. It's always a good thing to get out of your comfort zone - at least it isn't a car model.

Please remember that IPMS Niagara Frontier membership fees are due at the January 16th club meeting. To renew your membership, please bring in $10 in cash, check or money order to Tom Faith on Monday night. If you're going to pay by cash, exact change is really appreciated.

So, that's it for now and I hope you're all gearing up for not only BuffCon, but NorEastCon 17 in May as well!

Keep on modeling...

Round Table Entries from the December club meeting:

Unfortunately, due to a technical problem, the info sheets for the models on the tables were not available. I've included some comments from what I remember. Make up your own descriptions for the rest, and please enjoy the photos.

Larry Osolkowski brought in a new kit, a model in-progress, and a few other items.

The new kit is a joint effort between Aoshima and Beemax of the '91 BMW E30 M3 race car in 1/24 scale. Larry said it looks like a great kit, and he also got the detail set to go with it.

His model in-progress is the new Revell 1/25 Corvette C7R race car. Larry mentioned that the engineering of the kit is a bit strange in places, but the level of detail is generally pretty good.

The remaining items included some new colors from Zero Paints, and a Lego model of the Audi R18 Le Mans race car that he bought for his son for Christmas. Larry said he couldn't resist getting one for himself.

Paul Hines displayed his latest collection of automotive art: four paintings of Indy race cars from the 1960s.

Joe Szczygiel showed us his current work-in-progress, the Meng 1/16 US M-ATV MRAP. Joe is doing a lot of detailed scratchbuilding, as usual, and there are some pretty tiny bits for the large scale kit.

Here are the remaining items on the tables:

The donations to Toys For Tots were amazing, as always, and the Marines sent a representative to collect them.

Finally, some around-the-room photos.

Thanks to Joe Szczygiel for handling the table duties, and Larry Osolkowski for the photography.
